The Amanda Emblem Experiment Finds Peace on New EP “Lazy Sunday”
Sometimes there’s this feeling that comes and it takes all over your body. Like those moments where you look at your endless to-do list on a weekend and just decide to ignore the whole thing. It’s a different kind of lazy which hits you and you just don’t wanna do anything. The thing is you know very well the lawn needs mowing, the kitchen is a mess, and you probably have twenty emails to answer. But instead, you just sit on the porch with a cold drink, relax and do absolutely nothing, not gonna lie it feels kinda amazing.

So imagine those moments with a very cool music behind. Well don’t worry cos I’ve got, a brilliant project out of Australia called The Amanda Emblem Experiment just dropped a three-track EP called “Lazy Sunday” through Wild Weather Records, and it is the ultimate musical excuse to slack off. The lady behind the music is Amanda Emblem. She lives a pretty enviable life in Queensland, Australia.
She splits her time between a tiny rural town called Kandanga and a quiet coastal spot called Tinanbar. Because she loves nature, her producer Andy Tainsh actually built her a recording studio inside a literal treehouse in a place called Gildora. You just picture it, tracking vocals while looking at birds outside your window, enjoying the natural air of nature. It just a different kinda vibe and one everyone would love to experience. So now imagine how the music will feel.
This EP didn’t just come alone, She teamed up with a great group of local musicians like Billy Adams, Kelly King, Scott Astill, and Moses King to put this project together. Now last September, Amanda released a full ten-track album called “The Wood”. But instead of letting those songs sit around in retirement, she noticed that two of the longest tracks were getting huge streaming numbers.
Fans were obsessed with them. So, she went back into her treehouse studio, chopped them down into shorter, punchier versions, and added a brand-new tune to create this perfect little three-track EP. The whole mood of this collection is about space, simplicity, and an easygoing feel. It’s got that loose, effortless vibe that might remind you of classic, laid-back artists like JJ Cale. See lemme not waste more of your time, let’s dive into the tracks.
Welcoming listeners to a very stress free afternoon is the title track “Lazy Sunday“. Now this is the big focus track of the release, and it’s a total blast. Lemme tell you how it all came about. So it actually started out as just a fun, simple jam session around a kitchen table with some good friends. The track is a bit of a one-chord wonder, relying on a deeply grooving bassline, lots of fun vocal interplay, and a sweet, twangy slide guitar that feels like warm sunshine.
All that “Lazy Sunday” is telling you is to stop stressing and just enjoy your afternoon. It’s a bit of an upbeat, carefree story about kicking back, hanging out with your favorite people, and letting the world spin without you for a day. Dance to yourself and enjoy your time cos no one’s around to stress you. I love how Amanda took a super long album track and polished it into a tight, catchy tune that hits hard and puts you in an instant good mood, those strings are just too good. It’s the perfect song to blast while ignoring your chores.
Then we are introduced to this beautiful track “Old Romantic“. This is the brand-new bonus track nestled right in the middle of the EP. It fits perfectly with the first song because Amanda wrote it in the exact same key, using the same acoustic method, right at her kitchen table. She dedicated this one entirely to her partner, Jimmy. Amanda describes him as a solid Aussie bloke who loves to relax with a bottle of red wine and join in on their backyard jam sessions with his harmonica, imagine having a partner that enjoys your hobby with you, that’s the old kinda romantic people crave not this new enjoy your yourself kinda vibe.
“Old Romantic” is a sweet, down-to-earth celebration of real love. It ain’t a fake, over-the-top Hollywood love song with dramatic strings. Instead, it’s about the cozy, comfortable side of romance. It praises the joy of finding a partner you can completely relax with, someone who loves you in your natural element without any fancy pretense. It’s warm, acoustic, and feels like a big audio hug that everyone needs when it’s that time of the week. So sometimes ditch everything you do, pause your work and enjoy a relaxing moment with your partner.
Then comes the closer “Blue Skies Calm Seas“. To wrap up the EP, Amanda takes us straight to the coast with this track. This is the second big remix from her previous album. The original version was a long, drifting journey, but this new edit brings the best parts right to the front while keeping that beautiful, open-air feeling intact. All this song wants, is for you to find your mental peace. With effortless vocals that slide over a smooth, gentle rhythm, the song encourages the listener to wash away their anxieties. It acts as a musical deep breath, reminding you that no matter how chaotic your work life gets, there is always a calm sea waiting for you somewhere if you just take the time to look for it.
The Amanda Emblem Experiment proves that great music doesn’t need to be over-complicated or over-produced. By focusing on real instruments, deep beautiful songwriting, and a relaxed attitude, Amanda has crafted a beautiful collection of tunes that forces you to take a second and breathe. “Lazy Sunday” is live, up and running. Go check it out, add it to your favorite weekend playlist, and make sure you turn the volume up the next time you decide to do absolutely nothing so your neighbors can join you!
