Consequential Turns Everyday Inspiration Into Art on “I’m Alive” EP

One thing about life and music especially is, inspiration can come out of anything and you’d wonder how much of a masterpiece you’ve created out that. I don’t know about you, but you ever looked at a bird outside your window building a nest while you are completely glued to your sofa, and thought to yourself, “Wow, I should really get up and create a masterpiece”? Like out of nothing you feel you can create something outstanding that very moment, that very kind of lazy, unconventional inspiration is what fuels the mind of Consequential, a brilliant independent music project based out of the historic market town of Bury St. Edmunds, England.

He doesn’t do all of these new trends or has the time to copy something popular on social media or even ask an AI generator to write a generic melody. But what he did is really intriguing, this UK producer spent over a full year meticulously building, tearing down, and rebuilding a brand-new body of work. And I mean a work that many has anticipated it results. It’s a four-track extended play(EP) titled “I’m Alive,” released through WoodysWorldRecords NZ.

To many of us, Bury St. Edmunds might seem like a quiet, peaceful town surrounded by muddy fields, but what people don’t know is, it’s got a very rich and wild history. It’s the place where Bob Marley once played a surprise set in the early 1970s, and where a rowdy 1978 punk show by The Clash caused so much chaos that the local council literally banned live contemporary music from public buildings for nearly twenty years. Now Consequential channels that exact same stubborn, rebellious spirit by refusing to compromise on artistic integrity.

This project is a smooth blend of liquid drum and bass mixed with 1990s R&B vocal warmth and moody trip-hop rhythms. So tell me how this ain’t gonna bang? You might be wondering, so what was his goal behind this project, well he wanted to make fast electronic music feel accessible, calming, and deeply nostalgic and that’s why we are here to feel and vibe with each track on the EP.

Welcoming listeners to the EP with smooth textures is the track “Body Language.” Not many get their first track right, but this one nails it. I love how opening track hits you with a beautiful, rolling drum beat that instantly throws you back to the golden era of early liquid funk. Right over the top of the fast drums, Consequential laces in some incredibly soulful, slick 90s R&B vocal elements.

The message here is all about unspoken connections and the natural chemistry between people. It feels like a late-night drive through the city streets, balancing a high-energy pulse with a completely relaxed, cool attitude which I love Soo much. It actually makes you feel that vibe and feel with people, like driving around and experience nature, then meeting people around and just like that you connect and vibe with them like you’ve known each other for long. It’s just the body language.

Now on track 2, “Enjoy the Moment.” You can feel how the title of this song completely gives away its beautiful philosophy. It features a heavy, stomping bassline that grounds the track, but it keeps the upper melodies light, airy, and uplifting. The message behind this track is a simple reminder to slow down, stop worrying about the future, and just appreciate where you are right now. Many a times we over burden ourselves and squeeze too much of enjoyment when instead we can just appreciate everything and rather have fun and enjoy the moment than being overly obsessed with tomorrow. To me it’s the perfect musical equivalent of laying back on your couch and watching the world go by without a care in the world.

On the track “I’m Alive,” you can feel all the emotions in here. I can say it’s the undisputed emotional centerpiece of the entire project, and you can tell it underwent the most intense refinement. It blends a deep, atmospheric trip-hop groove with a rapid, syncing drum and bass rhythm. The message carries a powerful theme of survival, awareness, and celebrating your own existence in a world that often feels artificial. The track builds up with a ton of warmth and energy, making you feel completely rejuvenated by the time the final breakdown hits. It is a total anthem for anyone who is glad to still be standing.

Finally, the EP comes to an end with the track “Touch Down.” This track brings a slightly deeper, darker electronic edge to the table while keeping that trademark smooth liquid flow. The rhythms are incredibly crisp, and the bass drops feel urgent yet completely controlled. The message of the track represents arriving at your destination after a long, exhausting journey. It feels like a triumphant landing, wrapping up the entire musical experience on a high note and leaving you with a genuine sense of peace.

See I’ve got to give Consequential the credit, cos he has delivered a brilliant, refreshing alternative to today’s copycat electronic tracks. You can see how the arrangements works, each track being a successor to the previous and all tell you that indeed you’re alive! It’s a short, simple, and wonderfully human collection of songs that proves you can make fast club music that still has a ton of soul, substance, and real life experience behind it. So go ahead and enjoy this masterpiece of an EP, and feel alive!
