Silky Vibe’s “Made For Cruising” Blends R&B Soul with Automotive Dreams

Lemme ask you this,do you have a favorite car from your past that you would write a song about, or was your first car too embarrassing to mention? Well, I think I’ll write a song about mine. But I wouldn’t have to cos Silky Vibe just dropped a new album called “Made For Cruising“, and honestly, it is the perfect title for any song I would have written! Based out of Fort Lauderdale, this guy is a total one-man show. He writes, produces, and plays everything himself right in his bedroom studio. If you are into that smooth R&B sound but also have a soft spot for car culture, you’re gonna love this.

You maybe thinking, why would this be special? Well the whole album is a tribute to the cars he has owned or wanted throughout his life. So now imagine and go through your memories and see how enjoyable that feels of all the cars you’ve admired. Lemme tell you something, even tho it sounds a bit niche, it ain’t all that for the car guys only, but instead it’s a good music enough for everyone that enjoys a smooth R&B.

What makes this unique is how he uses cars as a way to talk about his life, from the cheap “hoopties” where he found some peace to the dream cars that kept him motivated to work harder. This many of us face in life, sometimes things get tough that we are forced to manage and survive, then as we keep going without giving up, things begins to fall in place and now we begin to live the dream life we’ve been waiting for.

One thing that makes this record stand out is how much actual guitar is on it. Most R&B today is just all computer-made, but Silky Vibe used three different guitars—two electrics and an acoustic—across seven of the nine tracks. It gives the music a warm, human feel that reminds me of artists like Frank Ocean or Daniel Caesar, but with a bit of a Radiohead edge.

The opening track, “Full Tank“, sets the mood perfectly, while “Cinnamon Leather” has a super smooth vibe that makes you feel like you are actually sitting in a luxury car. The interlude “Push Start” leads into “740”, which keeps that late-night driving energy going.

A real standout is “Box Chevy“. A blog once said this track has an “irresistible groove and a fuck load of personality,” and they weren’t lying. It’s got a great 808 bass line and some crisp drums, but it’s the lyrics and the personality that really pull you in. On tracks like “Burnout” and “Viper” you get that intensity you need to keep going, while “Night Drive Howlin’” and “Alcantara” close things out with a chill, atmospheric finish.

It is a very honest, no-frills album. There are no studio tricks here—just a guy with some guitars and a lot of heart. If you have an open mic night in Fort Lauderdale this month, you might even catch him performing some of these live. Go put this on, roll your windows down, and just drive. It is literally made for it.
