Sometimes I sit down, think things through and I realize how the dating pool have become a total mess. Instead of grabbing a stock wave effect off a computer, Pepijn created the sound of ocean water by taking drum brushes and rubbing them in slow, steady circles across a snare drum. It gives the intro a soft, rustling background texture that feels totally real. As the track unfolds, layers build on top of each other with careful patience. Warm synth chords replace the original piano parts, creating a thick foundation for a rolling bassline.
Suzanne’s background in Latin electronic music shines through in the percussion section. Crisp conga hits lock in with a subtle groove, giving the beat a gentle sway. When the vocal harmonies kick in during the second half, every piece comes together into a lush wall of sound that rewards anyone wearing a good pair of headphones.
“Whispered Dreams” tells a story about holding onto a relationship that is slowly slipping through your fingers like dry sand. The lyrics bring you right to the coastline, sharing quiet secrets and big dreams with someone while knowing time is running out.
