Michellar – “Do We Love Us”: A Catchy Take on Complicated Feelings
Lemme ask you this, have you ever found yourself in a situation where you had to turn an awkward emotion into something productive, or do you just keep it all inside? Well if you need a new track to get stuck in your head today, you have to check out Michellar’s latest single, “Do we love us.” Believe me, this track is an interesting piece, the way everything binds and blends together is just beautiful.

Maybe you don’t know Michellar. But Michelle Bond is the artist behind the name, and she has one of the coolest comeback stories I’ve heard in a while. She started writing songs when she was fifteen, but then she basically took a forty-year break. It wasn’t until a museum in San Francisco featured her art in 2023 that she got the spark back. Now, she is making up for lost time by dropping twenty-two singles in just nine months. And I must say, that’s a lot of work!
You may be wondering, why this song? Well “Do we love us” is pretty relatable if you’ve ever spent too much time working closely with someone. Michelle admitted she actually had a crush on a collaborator. When you are being creative with someone, things can get pretty vulnerable, and she had to figure out how to balance that closeness with a bit of professional restraint. Instead of letting things get weird, she just wrote a song about it. It’s her way of exploring those “what if” feelings without taking life too seriously.
What is really interesting is how the track actually sounds. It started out as a slow, sad little song on her acoustic guitar. But once she got into the studio, she decided to crank up the speed. She sent it over to a producer in Romania named Marius Alexandru, and he turned it into this high-energy, modern track. You can definitely hear a bit of a vibe from The Weeknd in the melody. It’s got that easy-going, late-night feel that makes you want to drive around the city with the windows down.
It is a fun, light-hearted escape from the heavy stuff. It’s got a great beat, catchy lyrics, and a lot of heart. Since she’s on such a roll lately, I’m sure we will be hearing a lot more from her soon.
