Seema Farswani – “Born To Fly”: A Soft-Rock Sitar Anthem About Empowerment
One thing about life is, there are certain feelings that happens and you just can’t paint a vivid picture of it to someone and you have to resort to the common phrase, you had to be there. Rishabh’s electric guitar work provides a heavy rock backbone, but it shares the spotlight with traditional Indian instrumentation. And you can feel those subtly behind the track, it like they sweep in smoothly like a night thief, who comes and go without you noticing until you pay attention.
The main hook pairs electric guitar riffs with the rich, expressive sitar played by Ananya Wadkar. It’s a sharp contrast, but the instruments dance around each other seamlessly, allowing Seema vocals to take the track up, ride the beats and giving us a beautiful, warm grounded performance, with a support from Ananya Wadkar’s soaring Hindi vocals and Singapore vocalist Shania Tan’s backing harmonies. Now beneath all of that, is a steady soft-rock drum beat, that keeps the tempo driving forward, while Brandon Leo handles the mastering to keep every layer clear and crisp. When all those voices stack together in the chorus, the track opens up into something massive.
“Born To Fly” is that simple, clear and talks to girls and women everywhere. It’s all about finding your voice, trusting your instincts, and having the guts to rise above whatever limits people try to put on you. It pushes you to become more than what you are, it says this is your moment, embrace it for you were born to fly, so why are you allowing people to place limit on what you can do, when the sky is only the limit? Even though it’s for empowering women and the young girl child, but it’s also a universal theme for everyone, so keep going, grind your ass up and never settle for less, you’re born to fly. So fly higher and soar above the ground.
The song serves as a reminder that no matter where you start, you have every right to dream big and chart your own path. It’s quite a refreshingly real piece of modern global pop, it’s an amazing track that sticks and really carry an identity with a powerful message.
